Taking a Paws for Recovery

A Leave of Absence

GENERAL BUSINESS

7/20/20251 min read

Hi friends,

After lots of thought (and doctor’s orders I really couldn’t ignore), I’ve made the difficult decision to take a medical leave of absence to recover from spinal surgery. If you know me, you know how much I love my work and the incredible people I get to support every day. This business has been going strong for five years - and has honestly been in the making for much longer than that. So stepping away, even temporarily, was not an easy choice.

But my body made it pretty clear: it’s time to hit pause and heal. My surgeon called it severe spinal cord compression, and while I didn’t love that diagnosis, I do love the idea of being able to move freely and pain-free again someday soon.

Thankfully, I’ve got the purr-fect recovery team - Izzy, Leo, Pearl, and Marble - who are taking their roles as Cat Nurses very seriously (or at least they’re committed to napping next to me while I read). I’ve got a towering TBR pile, a heating pad on standby, and a cozy blanket with my name on it.

I won’t be responding to messages during this time, but I’ll be back once my spine stops freelancing without me and I’m feeling stronger. Until then, thank you for your patience, your support, and for being a part of this journey.

Sending all the warm fuzzies (literally and figuratively),
